What’s your favorite stompbox?
Since I’m starting a series about stompboxes, effects, and whatnot, I’d love to hear what kinds of stompboxes you’re digging. Your answer can either be something you yourself play and love, or you could be envying one of those trippy Lovetone units sitting atop The Edge’s guitar rig.
As for me, I’ve been using Cusack effects for a couple of years now. If I had done this same post a year ago, I would have been raving about the Tap a Whirl. Don’t get me wrong - it’s an amazing little pedal. World class tremolo sounds with a tap switch so you can be spot on with the tempo of the song. A rad pedal indeed…
But what’s really been doing it for me lately is the Cusack Screamer Fuzz V2. It’s basically two effects in one: a creamy overdrive and a nasty fuzz. It comes with three knobs: level, scream, and fuzz. You mix in the amount of each sound you want and then set the level. That’s it. You are able to get some HUGE sounds with this unit. Everything from a subtle boost to Hendrix-y fuzz to Big Muff-style wall of sound. This is a VERY hip stompbox - definitely my favorite at the moment.
