New Year, New Blog
Welcome to the Six String Lounge, the newest guitar community on the web! I know I’m being very optimistic when I say “community”. Right now, I guess I’m the only person in the community!
But I want to establish right from the start that this is not just another boring one sided conversation. This is either going to be a community where you and I (and each other) interact, or this is going to flop. Either way, it should be fun. Thanks for stopping by!
Over the next several blog posts you’ll get a feel for what this blog is all about. But let me give you a quick overview:
This blog is about all things guitar: That’s where the “Six String” in the name comes from. I have been playing guitar for over 20 years. It is my job. It is what I do. But more than that, I have really felt a pull over the last several months towards teaching and mentoring other musicians. I hope this blog can be an outlet for that.
This blog is a community: That’s where the “Lounge” comes into play. Hopefully this ends up being the kind of relationship where we learn from each other. Also I will definitely need your help! Guest posts, reviews, and interviews will all be regular features around these parts.
This blog is positive: Honestly, this is the main motivation for starting this blog. There are plenty of blogs out there, and even plenty of guitar blogs. But I don’t think there’s anywhere that fosters an encouraging and positive atmosphere. Let’s face it - we guitar players are a critical bunch. Maybe, just maybe, we can cut through that and start something cool…
This blog is instructional: Like I said before, I’ve been playing guitar for a LONG time. While I still have a lot to learn - hopefully I will learn from you guys - I would love to be able to share some things I’ve learned with you. Especially for brand new guitarists.
This blog is interactive: In this Twitter/Facebook/2.0 world, the blogs that don’t interact might as well close up shop. Since I hope to stay around for awhile, I plan to be all over the interactivity. Whatever that means!
There. I said it. It’s out there. There is a post, so this blog officially exists. Now let’s keep this party going with some content!
