One of the major goals of this site is to foster a community of guitar players. And what would a community of guitar players look like without photos? Not much, let me tell you. Just added a JCM 900, Vox Saturator, Vox Time Machine, DeltaLabs delay, DeltaLabs chorus and Morely Volume pedal to my rig! Also added a Taylor 214ce.

I have a digitech rp300a also but its on loan to someone… I just got the electric stuff as I've always played acoustic… my first electric was an ibanez gio and it would not stay in tune… and I wanted a better electric and the minute I played this les paul I wouldn't let go of it. LOL. 3 mos later she was mine. LOVE the nanomag. Incredible guitar.

I'm looking to start getting some pedals soon, and I've been reading everything thinking about what I want. My amp has killer distortion built in and its footswitchable so I don't need that right now. I want a loop, wah… amp has reverb too so don't need that either right now.

I'm looking to get a Gibson songwriter deluxe as an acousti upgrade in the future… but this one has great tone for now…

L-R: '01 MIM Fender Strat; '03 Gibson Les Paul Studio; '00 Larrivee L03; '04 Squier Standard Jazz Bass; '06 Epi Dot Studio. The Les Paul is far and away my number 1 and was a birthday gift from my wife. The strat is my #2 and the one I take if I travel anywhere to play. The Larrivee is the first axe I bought when I got back into playing after a long, painful hiatus. The bass - I occasionally fill in on bass at Church and needed something cheap and reliable. This one is perfect for that. The Epi Dot is in pieces for repairs and upgrades. I chipped the end of the nut off one morning right before church, and I've decided to try a pair of Duncan P-rails and a Baggs T-bridge to make a hybrid acoustic/P90/humbucker axe - pretty excited to get this done, actually, as I think it'll make a very versatile worship guitar when it's done. I think I like the feel of this neck better than any of the others, which says a lot for a $300 machine.

Sigh, I haven't played this rig in over a year, in fact I'm thinking of selling everything you see. We use modellers at church, and I really haven't played anywhere where I couldn't get by with my Line 6 XT Live. I really miss the pedals and tube amp, though. Anyhow, the amp is a Peavey Classic 30 with upgraded tubes and an on-board L-pad attenuator. I'd planned to replace the stock Blue Marvel speaker, but never got around to it. The pedalboard has (in no particular order) a Korg DT10 tuner, Tonefactor Copperhead dual boost/OD, Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde overdrive/distortion, Digitech Bad Monkey distortion, Tonefactor Omega Fuzz, Boss LM-2 limiter, Boss TR-2 tremolo, EH Small Stone chorus, Boss pitch shifter/delay, Dunlop Volume pedal, SiB Mr. Echo Delay. Off to the right is a CryBaby wah and a Morley A-B/Y box.

Hi everyone! I just saw Third Day in Jonesboro Arkansas the other night and noticed Mark was using the new amp. I came across this site by accident while I was trying track down the brand of his new amp

Amp: Peavey Classic 30. I re-tubed this amp about a year after I bought it and absolutely love it. New tubes are 3 Sovtek 5751 (pre) and 4 JJ EL-84s.

Effects Pedal: Digitech RP-2000. More than I could ever need. On some tunes I play without it because the amp has a nice warm punch that gets softened a bit with the pedal effects.

Guitars: My main axes are the G&L S-500 and the Takamine EG-45SC. Also pictured is my Greg Bennett LaSalle JZ-4 jazz box. I have a few others (don’t we all…), but these are my main workhorses.

Future: I love my setup. I’m looking at a new acoustic for fingerstyle playing for my next bday. The Tak is great for strumming, but its weaknesses are revealed in fingerstyle. I’m leaning Taylor 816ce ($$$). At that point I will also want an acoustic amp. My RP2000 sometimes goes a little crazy on me and requires a ‘reboot,’ so I’m keeping my eye on that–usually when it gets too hot, so I try to remember to unplug it between sets.

I am 43, so I've collected a lot of miscellaneous stuff over the years and usually just piece together what I need on the spot. However, I'm planning on "growing up" and building a new proper guitar rig with everything in the rack and using an Axess FX1 as the footswitch.

I believe this is the setup I used when we first played Casting Crown's song "Glory." The equipment is as follows:

Fender Twin II amplifier. I bought this NEW in 1985, I believe. I love love love this amp. Cascading gain and the classic Twin clean sound. I generally use the amps overdrive, though on some songs (including "Glory"), I've added an Ibanez Turbo Tube Screamer for a sharper modern edge.

On top of the Twin sits a Roland Super chorus. This is a full rack analog chorus (non-programmable) they made in the 80's. Also up on top is a Roland GP-16 guitar processor. This thing was the bee's knees when it came out, and I always wanted, but couldn't afford. I finally bought mine used on eBay about 10 years ago.

I use the GP-16 mainly for delays, and since I run mono, you can use their tap/ping-pong delay to actually have multiple delay times. I use this to duplicate that "U2 sound" and have presets at several of our main tempos, with the feedback echoes doing both 1/8 notes and triplets. Then I have a singe strong echo that comes back on the beat. It's very cool!

The unit is noisy, though, and I plan on replacing it with something newer - i.e. a TC Electronics rack or possibly an Eventide Time Factor, I think either can do what I need.

The stompbox in the photo is a Boss BF-3 flanger. My favorite feature of this flanger is the momentary function, where it adds the flanger just while the pedal is pressed down. For me, this is much easier than clicking on and clicking off. I like to add a nice flange sound on sustained chords, sometimes. If the Axess can't do the momentary function (unlikely that it can), I will leave this pedal mounted on my pedal board, rather than putting it in the rack.

The guitars here are a Fender American Standard strat, and my first guitar ever - an Alvarez Acoustic. I upgraded the tuners to Grovers, and added a Martin pickup system, and have used this continuously since 8th grade!

Other common effects in the "arsenal" incude Tone Bone Classic overdrive (use with my blues junior), EVH MXR Phase 90, Cry-baby 535Q and a Boss Acoustic Simulator. When I use the Simulator, I have it wired with a Morley A/B/Y switch so I can do acoustic/electric sounds at the same time. The acoustic output goes direct into the sound system.

For keyboard players, the top keyboard is a Kurzweil PC2X and the bottom is a Kurzweil PC-88MX. Both are full 88-key weighted keyboards and the PC2X is my favorite! I run MIDI to a Roland JV-2080 that is stuffed with expansion cards, and a variety of other rack synths as needed…or desired!

The Peavy monitor is JUST for the keyboards and comes off my keyboard submixer (a rack mounted Yamaha, I don't remember the model.) I hate when I'm playing piano parts and you just hear a background piano from the monitor, so I have my own. It HAS to sound like a piano is there, or I bang on the keys too hard.

I have a host of other guitars and effects, but this is what I've been playing with the most, lately!

The KT-45 looks great Mark - cant seem to find a distributor in Australia tho… How do you find the El-34s for clean tones? And btw what do we need to do to get you guys to come back to Australia for another few gigs - if you are coming in the new year please chuck a Dr Z in the trunk for me.

Hey Mark…just caught your Winter Jam show in Dallas…your tone is AWESOME….and as a PRS lover, I love to see your flock is growing!! The two-tones Dr. Zs sounded great…I am dying to see whats hiding backstage in your rack!! I'll have to get some pics on here soon…but as always seems to be the case, my rig is in the process of changing in that epic but elusive quest for "the perfect tone."

acoustic rack pics…wireless, joe meek 3Q (EQ/compression), BBE sonic maximizer, behringer rack tuner, furman power conditioner. I have rack-housed effects…footswitchable on of off for some nice tonal variations…EHX small stone chorus, MXR 10-band EQ and Carbon Copy delay. For electric, I bypass the EQ and run the whole rack int my MesaBoogie DC-3…but like I said, this is mainy for my Breedlove acoustic!!
